Artist Gail Hurst, has been working with participants at Danny’s Dream as part of our Creative Connections project developing creative social groups. In this post, she tells us a little about the project so far:
“The art workshops at Danny’s Dream are proving to be a real success both in a social context and skill development. Due to the year long length of the project, I feel the participants are really benefiting with having time to develop their own work. From my perspective having the time to get to know the participants is helping me as an participatory artist to prepare and differentiate materials thus enabling everyone to access and enjoy each workshop.
So far each participant has produced a collage, which then has been photographed and printed onto a poster format, to see everyone’s delight when they received them was great. We have also worked on a collaborative 3D piece of work; creating flower and leaf studies from life and a vase image using inktense watercolour pencils. This is now on display in the Danny’s Dream centre. Taking fresh flowers and herbs really enhanced the environment too as they all enjoyed touching and smelling the different scents.”
