We believe every person - whatever their background or circumstance - deserves the chance to find themselves in art, and to make art that matters to themselves and their community. Our vision is a world where emerging talent is nurtured, exceptional artistic experiences are woven into the fabric of daily life, and world-class galleries in the heart of communities open their doors not as a privilege extended to the few, but as a right extended to all. Our Mission We create meaningful creative pathways for people who have not always had access to them. Through our learning and participation programmes, we support children, young people and adults from under-represented backgrounds to build confidence, develop skills and feel a genuine sense of belonging. Our free-to-access visual art gallery connects local participants and visitors with bold ideas and high-quality arts experiences. By championing inclusive, community-led creativity in Hull, we empower people to reimagine what is possible for themselves and their communities. We nurture artists by creating space to develop, experiment and present new work. Many artists we have supported have gone on to gain national and international recognition, demonstrating the power and reach of community-rooted creative practice. Through our 87 Gallery exhibition programme, we are also growing our reputation as a professional gallery that attracts artists from across the UK and internationally, strengthening the city’s arts ecology and contributing to Hull’s reputation as a centre for arts and culture.
