Artlink’s first show in 2017 is Portraits Untold by Tanya Raabe-Webber. Tanya is a well-respected portrait artist whose Portraits Untold project opens at the National Portrait Gallery this December. During the first week of her exhibition at Artlink, Tanya took up residency at and conducted a series of portrait workshops with anyone who wanted to take part. Four local sitters for Tanya were chosen to take part in the open conversation with some of Hull’s leading figures on arts, diversity and culture as they had their portrait’s painted. The exhibition also featured some of Tanya’s other work.
Tanya Raabe-Webber is an acclaimed disabled artist challenging the notion of identity within contemporary portraiture, often creating portraits of high profile disabled people during live sittings in high-profile public art galleries and venues.
