‘The Many Faces of…’ is an exhibition by Ailie Clark, a freelance illustrator who has created work for small businesses, bands, and everything in between. Inspiration tends to come from her love of mid-century design: the type, the colour palettes, the simplicity of design, and portraits. Her work reflects her interest in surface pattern, design, and textiles.
This show is a snippet of Ailie’s personal work, which she sees as an opportunity to create what she wants, how she wants. “I love to draw faces; trying to capture a person through simple ink lines but still hold what is unique to them can be quite challenging. I like the different quirks people have like big ears or their hair or perhaps the attitude they reflect. It makes an image far more fun to draw and relatable.”
