87 Editions is a collaborative project with Misc Print and our exhibiting artists, who have the chance to develop their practice by experimenting in the on-site screen printing studio.
We encourage artists to think about ways of generating income outside of their core practice through developing print editions for sale.
Money from sales of 87 Editions is shared between the artists and Artlink Hull | 87 Gallery, contributing to our on-going creative programmes.
We would like these editions to be enjoyed by our local community. We warmly extend a HU postcode and in-store discount on purchases made in person on marked editions. If unsure, please ask a member of staff on your visit to the gallery shop.
Nancy Clayton
Nancy Clayton is a visual artist and dancer based in London. Her large-scale drawings and paintings are informed by her experience and observation of the body in motion. These complex figurative compositions balance the weight and momentary flight of the body, while capturing the emotional intensity shared through collaborative performance. Motivated by the potential for art to spark societal change, Clayton prioritises working with other Disabled artists to place these shared experiences at the centre of her practice. Her exhibition Bodies Showing Power is currently showing at Artlink Hull | 87 Gallery until 12 September 2026.
Luis Bustamante
Luis Bustamante is a Chilean photographer. He and his wife, Carmen, arrived in Hull in December 1974, as political refugees. As well as studying at the University of Hull, Luis walked the streets, photographing what he saw. “The camera had two purposes: it was a connection with a new life and a shield that enabled me to look at it,” he later said. These images vividly capture a sense of everyday life in Hull in the mid-1970s, a period of significant social and political change. To mark the fiftieth anniversary of Chilean refugees arriving in Hull, the exhibition Cold Junction at Artlink Hull | 87 Gallery from June to September 2024 united Luis’s photography with his son Sebastian’s ongoing project El Otoño.
